are there. The number is still rising. When 17 years back,
I was a college student, there were only 96 Ayurvedic
colleges in the country. Now just two provinces have
nearly 100 to 150 Ayurvedic colleges across. In Kerala,
there were only 4 Ayurvedic colleges. Now there are 16
Ayurvedic Colleges. So it is growing every year. So,
imagine the number of Ayurvedic doctors in India. There
are Post graduate colleges, were students do MD Course.
There are nearly 8000 manufact
alone has about 900 pharmacies.

apex body to control various activities in Ayurveda, Yoga
and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy. There
is a very steady growth in the support from the ministry
to promote Ayurveda. CCIM India is in-charge of the
educational activities, controlling the quality of the
education and the recognised colleges offer a 5 and ½
years BAMS degree programme, 3 years of post graduate
MD programme and also post doctoral programmes. In
India, totally 250 colleges offer such studies and this has
helped us in the creation of good Ayurvedic practice and
manufacture of the medicines.
