Tri Doshas are Vata, Pitta and kapha. If you
understand their different permutation combinations
and problems they can cause on the Dhatus or structural
principle, it becomes easy to understand any of the disease
conditions. So this is the general rule. But the five rules to
understand a disease according to Ayurveda is
Nidana,
Poorvaroopa, Roopa, Upasaya
and
Samprapti. Nidana
helps to understand the causative factors. Poorva
Roopa
is the evaluation of pre-monitoring symptoms which
manifests before the actual manifestation of the disease.
And the
Roopa
are actual signs and symptoms of manifest
disease.
Upasaya
are investigative therapies and
samprapti
is the understanding of the pathological process of it.
When we talk about AIDS, it means: acquired
immunity deficiency syndrome. Nama Roopa siddhanta
gives a very initial impression about this disease, and
states that it is an immuno deficient disease. We
automatically classify it under:
oja kshaya
, or the
sneha-kshaya the lack of nourishment, the lack of ojas
or the ultimate energy. It is also a syndrome which we
immediately co-relate with
rajayakshma
or the king of
all diseases which have created a lot of other problems
along with them. That is the initial impression. We go
