Introduction

The Centre for Bharat Studies (CBS), at the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia (RILCA), Mahidol University, Thailand in collaboration with the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS), Thailand organized the first workshop on "Yoga for Holistic Well-being" on July 17, 2015 with a brief lecture on Yoga and its practice gratis to around 100 participants at the RILCA Hall. This activity aimed at creating awareness in Thais of the importance of Yoga for their holistic well-being before "the International Day on Yoga" would be launching by the UN (via the Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India's proposal) on June 21st.

Since 2016, the CBS has been working together with Dr. Adrish Brahmadatta, an executive committee of the HSS, Thailand and an Indian expert on Yoga to organize the following Yoga activities:

Summary

The CBS has tried to apply the Science of Yoga from India as a new skill for groups of people who previously did not know much about it through free Yoga training courses. Moreover, some seeking to reskill and upskill themselves have taken the opportunity to explore career development options available with our diploma courses designed for both Thais and foreigners. This shows that Yoga maitri from India, implemented by the CBS in Thailand in collaboration with Dr. Adrish Brahmadatta, is available to various groups in local society directly or internationally through on-site and online training courses. Finally, after organizing Yoga and Ayurveda courses for several years, we are in a position to establish a Mahidol University Yoga Alumni Group who will collaborate with us on other activities. That group will consist of qualified Yoga teachers/trainers and serve as Yoga ambassadors by teaching correct Yoga in their communities and networks. The CBS is pleased to call itself a leading institution for Yoga and Ayurveda training in Thailand and is a proud promoter of and contributor to the BIMSTEC alliance.
