Preface
This book on
“Ayurveda: Ancient Heritage in the
Age of Globalisation”
was a theme of the Third “Indian
Ideas and Thoughts” Annual Seminar organized by the
Centre forBharat Studies, ResearchInstitute forLanguages
and Cultures of Asia, Mahidol University in collaboration
with the Embassy of India and the Dept. of AYUSH,
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of
India in the year 2010. The aimwas to promote the Indian
ancient medical wisdom known for more than five
thousand years. It has been inherited, developed and
distributedwidely in the globe aswell as ASEAN countries,
in particular, Thailand.
This book was published with the collaboration from
the Government of India and three eminent scholars:
Dr. Amarjiva Lochan, Delhi University, India, who was
Coordinator of the Seminar by inviting the Indian keynote
speaker as well as writing an article on “Buddha, Jivaka
and Ayurveda”, and Dr. U. Indulal, Deputy Director -
Technical, the Arya Vaidya Chikitsalayam and Research
Institute, Coimbatore, India who gave a lecture on
“Ayurveda: an ancient wisdom in the age of globalization”
including the knowledge of Ayurvedic Body-Mind Type
