relatives
in Bangkok, my colleagues and students,
I am glad that the second annual seminar in the series of
Indian Ideas and Thoughts
is taking place, and for selecting the
topic on Swami Vivekananda I am personally grateful to Dr Amarjiva
Lochan form Delhi University, India. My new introduction to Swami
Vivekananda and his life has been like a discovery to me. His
contribution to the thoughts of world peace and harmony are very
relevant and in his lucid expression and introduction of Hinduism,
his high reverence to Lord Buddha and Buddhism inspired me a lot.
The method of synctretic co-existence of all religions offered by
Swami Vivekananda requires to be known, learnt and applied by Thai
people, this is the sole purpose of this Seminar.
The two speakers from India and Thailand are authorities on this
subject, and I am grateful to both of them for coming and
contributing the Seminar at a very short notice.
