Dr. Sanghamitra:
Thank you very much, Amarjiva. Actually I have
not come here as a speaker. I am just a companion of my father although
he would love to travel alone but I think as a medical doctor, I need to
look after him, so sorry about that.
Now, the question about Thailand.
If you don’t understand about what was going on in India, let me explain
that first. Till now in the last 45 years of nuclear history in India, nuclear
energy history in India till today, 14 nuclear power plants are working. And
only 4,000 Megawatt capacity has been acquired in the last 45 years
effort. Now they are planning that in one site there will be 10,000
Megawatt output. Another site would yiled 6,000 Megawatt like that, still
by increasing so much also by 2020. The planning is just now 2-2.5% of
electricity generated is by nuclear but by 2020 the percentage will
increase to 5-7%. So and the money and the budget is too much what
from our experience. The Thai people need to learn this. It does not solve
the electricity problem neither it solves the green house and the global
warming problem because nuclear is too expensive first of all. Throughout
the world, people have understood that. Secondly, people haven’t
understood that it is the risk which is involved, and the cases of the
accidents are not unknown. It’s not that the nuclear accidents happen
every day. But when they happen, they are catastrophe like Chernobyl.
And the cost of it to maintain the safety would increase. It has been least
expected or planned by our nuclear policy makers. They have to deal
with it. So the cost is gone up and now. It was given in 50s by the nuclear
energy people that the American nuclear energy is a director. So Thai
people should understand and learn from the mistake like neighboring
country like us. I have gone into as a physician and I have walked into
villages near existing nuclear power plant in India, Narora, Rajasthan and
